Windsor police are investigating after intense flames broke out at a vacant house at 478 Caron Ave. on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the neighbourhood just before 5 a.m. due to reports of heavy smoke. They arrived to find a two-storey home with its rear side and basement area already on fire.
The flames soon spread to all floors of the building. Hydro lines at the rear of the property were affected.
It took about an hour to bring the fire under control, and longer to eliminate hot spots.
No one was hurt.
Damage was still being assessed. Investigators with Windsor Fire and Rescue Services and the Windsor Police Service attended the scene to try to determine the fire’s origin.
