An OPP canine unit tracked has down an alleged truck thief who took off on foot after the stolen vehicle got stuck in the mud.
Essex County OPP received a call on Nov. 4 around 8 p.m. about a vehicle stuck in the 700 block of Old Tecumseh Road.
A witness told police that the driver had tried to get the truck out of the mud but gave up and left on foot.
After finding the truck, a 2006 Dodge pickup, police realized it had been stolen from Kingsville earlier that evening.
Officers called in the OPP emergency response and canine units. They tracked down the driver.
The 30-year-old Windsor man is charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
