A Windsor man has been charged with a number of offences, including aggravated assault and resisting arrest, after attacking a man with a baton Tuesday morning and then using the weapon to confront responding police officers.
Patrol officers were dispatched to Erie Street East and Elsmere Avenue at approximately 9 a.m. Officers searched the area after a seriously injured man, bleeding from the head, described being beaten by a baton-wielding assailant who then walked away.
Police found a man in the 600 block of Marentette Avenue. They say he came at them with an expandable baton. They used a Taser to get the man to comply, but he still resisted arrest.
David Greganti, 45, is charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, resist arrest and two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon.
