A personal support worker is facing multiple fraud charges — and Windsor police say there could be more victims.

Sonya Blazevski, 53, of Windsor, was arrested on Monday around 11:45 a.m. as the result of an investigation by the Windsor police Financial Crimes Unit.

Police said the case began in late February when an elderly woman went to police about unauthorized transactions on her credit card.

Investigators identified a suspect: A woman who had been employed locally as a personal support worker and had provided in-home care for the victim.

The accused has been charged with four counts of fraud (value under $5,000), four counts of theft (value under $5,000), four counts of possession of stolen property, and four counts of identity fraud (i.e. personating another person with intent to obtain property).

Police said investigators believe there’s a potential that further victims exist, “due to the fact that the alleged crimes were related to the suspect’s employment.”

Anyone who has information about this incident or believes they were also affected is encouraged to call investigators at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330.

Anonymous tips can be made via Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or www.catchcrooks.com.
