A raid by the drugs and guns unit (DIGS) has resulted in the biggest single seizure of heroin in Windsor police history.
A bag full of 176.5 grams of suspected heroin was among the illicit drugs found officers executed a search warrant on a residence in the 500 block of Aylmer Avenue on Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.
The DIGS unit began an investigation on a male suspect earlier this month.
Also discovered in the raid were: 277.3 grams of suspected cocaine, 108.9 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 32 oxycodone tablets, 32 hydromorphone capsules, and various items associated with a drug trafficking operation.
Police estimate the street value of all the drugs seized at $109,540.
The male suspect associated with the residence was arrested about 45 minutes prior to the raid. Members of the Emergency Services Unit took him into custody in a vehicle stop in the 1000 block of Howard Avenue.
Chirko Tasevski, 62, of Windsor, faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
“Addictive illegal street drugs become a danger to our entire community,” noted Windsor police in a news release.
