One man is in custody and another is being sought in connection with an assault that left the victim with injuries Windsor police described as “potentially life-threatening.”

Zephaniah Moses, 23, of Windsor, faces charges of aggravated assault and robbery.

Another suspect — a 35-year-old Windsor man — has been identified by investigators and remains outstanding at press time.

Police were called on Nov. 11 around 9:15 p.m. to a residence in the 2100 block of Dougall Avenue.

A woman visiting the address had discovered the victim, a 46-year-old Windsor man.

Officers found the resident suffering from severe injuries to his head, arm, and leg.

The victim was taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Police said he was seriously hurt, but alive at press time.

Investigators learned that the resident had been involved in an argument earlier the same night with a man known to him. Police described the nature of the argument as “a transaction dispute.”

The arguer left the address in a taxi — but returned a short time later, accompanied by another male known to the victim.

According to police, the two assailants brandished weapons and attacked, striking the victim numerous times.

One of the attackers removed property from the victim’s pocket, then both attackers fled the scene.

Detectives with the Major Crime Branch are continuing to investigate the incident. They determined that the victim was targeted, and identified two suspects.

Moses was located and arrested by patrol officers on Nov. 13 around 3:30 a.m. on Tournier Street at Baby Street.

It’s not the first time Moses has been tied to a violent incident. In April 2015, Moses was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and multiple counts of breach of probation in relation to the stabbing of a 40-year-old man at Montrose Apartments at 445 Glengarry Ave.

Police are not releasing the name of the second suspect, nor the types of weapons used in the attack.

Anyone with further information about this incident or the parties involved is encouraged to contact investigators at 519-255-5700 ext. 4830.
