A 23-year-old Windsor man is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a beer bottle as a weapon to rob a convenience store.
The suspected robber was arrested by Windsor police after a brief struggle inside the Mac’s convenience store at 991 Ouellette Ave. shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
When officers arrived on the scene, the store’s lone employee was waiting outside the business.
He told police he fled the premises after being robbed by a man with a beer bottle — and the robber was still inside the store.
The officers entered and found the suspect. According to police, the man ignored their commands, and a struggle ensued.
With the man in custody, the officers then located the beer bottle.
Jaren Reid-Harrison has been charged with robbery and breach of an undertaking.
Windsor police complimented the store employee for being “a perfect example” of staying calm in a dangerous situation, getting to a place of safety and promptly notifying authorities.
