Wednesday wasn’t a good day for the Mac’s convenience store in the 900 block of Ouellette Avenue — with the business having to deal with robbers on two different occasions in less than 12 hours.

The first incident happened around 1 a.m., when a 23-year-old man allegedly brandished a beer bottle to rob the store, but was arrested on the premises after a brief struggle with officers.

According to police, the second incident happened the same morning shortly before 10:30 a.m., when a man entered the store and asked the employee for cigarettes.

This man was not a customer. Instead of buying cigarettes, he went behind the counter himself and proceeded to remove packages of cigarettes.

When the employee confronted the man, the robber tried to hit him. The employee stepped aside and wasn’t hurt.

The robber then fled the store, shoving a customer as he left.

Upon investigation, Windsor police were able to identify a suspect.

The man was located and arrested on Thursday in the 600 block of Victoria Avenue.

Tem Baccam, 46, faces one count of robbery and one count of assault.

The Mac’s convenience store at 991 Ouellette Ave. is shown in this 2016 Google Maps image.
