Handguns stolen from east Windsor residence

A legal gun owner in Windsor’s east end is missing multiple firearms — despite them being stored in a safe.

Windsor police said they received a complaint on Thursday around 6:30 a.m. from a resident in the 4300 block of Grand Marais Road East.

The resident advised officers that he legally possesses firearms, which he normally stores in a safe.

That morning, he noticed the safe had been unlocked, and a number of handguns had been taken.

There were no signs of a break-in, and the safe showed no damage from being forced open.

Police said the owner of the firearms believes the person responsible for the thefts was someone known to him who had visited him recently.

The Windsor police Property Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call detectives at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350.

Anonymous tips can be made via Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or catchcrooks.com.
